Thoughts from the support vehicle in Greensburg, Kansas

Hi all, from Jamie, Rich, Greg and Charlie. We have just done 83 miles in a little over three hours across the Kansas plains. Racing is getting tight and the entire state seems to smell of cattle! 4 hours off then 6 hours to pure time trialling, fingers crossed the head wind stays where it is!

A few words from Ulysses, Kansas

June 21, 2011 1 comment

Well hello again trusty blog followers!

So much has happened since we last spoke – yet there is so little time to tell you about it!

We are sitting typing this in McDonalds in Ulysses, Kansas, and by the time you read this we will be almost half way across America.

Jamie, Rich, James and Chappers have now cycled over 1,200 miles, from hot & sunny California, through dry and deserted Arizona, Utah, across large swathes of picturesque Colorado and we now are passing through Kansas.

We have witnessed some of the most beautiful scenery as the ever-changing and awe-inspiring landscape slowly unfolds before us.

The going is really, really tough. This truly is a challenging race.

We are constantly on the move. There is always a racer on the course and the rest of the crew have to ensure we all keep moving with them.

Yet for all the logistical and physical challenges that RAAM presents, Crank Addicts are going strong.

We have now crested Wolf Creek at 10987.5 feet – the highest point in the race – and are making our way across the Great Plains on our way to the race half way point in Pratt, Kansas.

You can follow live updates of our progress on the official RAAM website:

www.raceacrossamerica.org/

Be sure to check out the latest pictures on Flickr too:

We will try to keep you further updated as and when we find some internet connectivity – which is somehow harder than you might think in the US!

Love from Kansas,

The Crank Addicts Team
